With his 2022 plans confirmed, the new spate of questions being thrown at Sebastian Vettel is all about Bond…James Bond.
Driving for Aston Martin, Bond’s favourite car manufacturer, Vettel says he would like a few of the tricks and gadgets that can be found in Bond’s cars.
In the latest Bond movie, ‘No Time To Die’, 007 has an Aston Martin DB5 with headlights that open to allow machine guns to shoot.
That is something Vettel would not mind his AMR21 being fitted with, although perhaps a little less violent.
“James Bond is fiction, the races are real,” he told F1-Insider.com. “But sometimes I would also like a few buttons with which I could get rid of an opponent in front of or behind me.”
Vettel did not join his team-mate Lance Stroll in attending the Bond premiere.

Super-powers would also be welcome.
“In 2012 in the World Championship final in Brazil I had to fight my way backwards after a spin at the start,” he recalled. “It felt like I had a few super-powers.”
Alas, super-powers will not help the Aston Martin Formula 1 team with Vettel conceding their road to race wins, and championship fights, has only just begun.
“The team is growing and wants to be successful,” he said. “We are doing everything for it. How long it will take is hard to say.
“In any case, the rule changes are very exciting.”
Next season, Formula 1 is introducing all-new cars based on ground-effect aerodynamics, with the sport’s bosses hoping they will improving the quality of racing.
Vettel will be around for it, having re-signed with Aston Martin for 2022.
Back to Bond, Vettel says his favourite Bond car is the DB5 while Sean Connery is the Bond.
“I grew up with James Bond and have now come a little closer to him,” Vettel said. “Of course, I’m still a car fan and James Bond was always allowed to drive really nice cars.
“The DB5 is my favourite Bond car.
“It goes back to the beginning – Sean Connery is my Bond favourite. He was a real gentleman. I grew up with Pierce Brosnan as Bond, but nobody can outdo Sean Connery.”
