Rolls-Royce achieved a record year for new cars sales in 2022 with 6,000 models finding homes with customers around the world
Rolls-Royce scored record sales in 2022, with more than 6,000 examples of the British-built luxury car reaching customers, a gain of eight per cent on the previous year.
The Goodwood marque says that strong performance in the United States, Greater China and Europe drove its global sales increase. And it is confident that it can build on the success this year, with orders for “all models” stretching well into the next 12 months. Rolls-Royce also says the pre-order bank for the all-electric Spectre – a car that’s not due to be delivered until the final quarter of this year – has “exceeded expectations”.

The sales results mark the first time in Rolls-Royce’s 118-year history that the company has delivered more than 6,000 vehicles in a single year. Records were set in several key markets, including the UK and Germany. The Cullinan SUV enjoyed the greatest demand overall, although the Ghost saloon was the most popular model in the Asia-Pacific region. Rolls-Royce says that Black Badge, its rebellious sub-brand, as “witnessed extraordinary growth”.
Rolls-Royce’s CEO, Torsten Muller-Otvos, said, “As a true house of luxury, sales are not our sole measure of success; we are not and never will be a volume manufacturer. But Bespoke IS Rolls-Royce and commissions were also at record levels last year, with our clients’ requests becoming ever more imaginative and technically demanding. The unrivaled bespoke creativity and quality achieved by our team here in Goodwood means that on average, our clients are now happy to pay around half a million Euros for their unique motor car.”
The news coincides with Rolls-Royce celebrating 20 years at its home in Goodwood. The firm created 150 new jobs at the site in 2022, taking the staffing level to 2,500 employees.
