Today marked the eighth day of protests on the M25 from members linked with environmental activist group, Insulate Britain. Their aim is to force the Government to fully fund the insulation of all social housing by 2025.
Members of the group stopped traffic on both carriageways of the M25 between junctions nine and 10, near Cobham in Surrey, this morning.
Many have been extremely critical of the group, condemning their actions, with Home Secretary Priti Patel describing the protests as “unacceptable”.
Former Top Gear host and current presenter of The Grand Tour, Jeremy Clarkson, was rather critical of their actions.
He said: “For the past week a handful of beardy people in Crocs, socks and high-visibility jackets have been trying to make people insulate their lofts by sitting in the middle of the M25.
“Naturally, this has caused lots of wailing and gnashing of teeth among those who have already insulated their lofts — which is everyone.
“But not from me, because I feel rather sorry for them.
“They desperately want the happy life we have, but they are socially awkward and maybe a bit gauche.”
Countless videos of the protestors have been shared on social media, many of which show them running across the motorway and sitting down.

On Twitter, Martin Daubney, reshared a video of the protest.
He said: “At last, after huge public uproar, the police actually start policing – and drag #InsulateBritain protestors off the M25.
Express.co.uk commenters were also critical of the actions of the protestors, with many calling for further punishments for them.
