2020 Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC SUVs and Chevrolet, GMC Pickup Trucks: Recall Alert

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 800 model-year 2020 Buick Enclave SUVs; Cadillac XT5 and XT6 SUVs; Chevrolet Blazer and Traverse SUVs, and Silverado 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks; GMC Acadia SUVs, and Sierra 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickups

The Problem: The diffuser component of the roof-rail airbag inflator may not have been properly crimped to the inflator and could separate from the inflator during airbag deployment, degrading the airbag’s performance and increasing the risk of an injury in a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will replace the suspect roof-rail airbag modules for free.

What Owners Should Do: GM, which manufacturers Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles, will begin notifying owners Sept. 14. Owners can call GM at 866-522-9559, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
