The Tesla Cybertruck is still on enthusiast minds, even though it isn’t exactly on the road. Its wild shape, electric powertrain, and the company’s polarizing CEO have turned the Cybertruck into a household name. The downside? You can’t get one. Of course, that’s never stopped the mad scientists at Garage 54 from, well, doing what others don’t.
In true Garage 54 fashion, the team of creative mechanics based their Crybertruck clone on an existing vehicle. Opting to sacrifice a UAZ for the ambitious experiment, the team went to work deconstructing the work truck, lengthening it and covering it in Cybertruck-ish bodywork. Of course, this homemade Cybertruck doesn’t have all of the same features like Tesla’s genuine article, but it does work.
It’s also not exactly an electric vehicle either. Garage 54 sticks with the UAZ’s drivetrain, which makes sense considering the hasty nature of the build. We have no doubt that the team at Garage 54 could come up with an electric powertrain; we’re also sure it would probably be the strangest solution to an EV conversion you’d see on the internet.
Garage 54 completes the Cybertruck build and pits it against a Porsche in a tug of war. Check that out above.
