Sony did confirm that the production version of the electric SUV will be able to exceed 180 km/h.
Sony has unveiled its new electric SUV concept at the 2022 CES, called the Vision-S 02. The electric SUV is the second model showcased by the tech giant, with the first being the Vision-S electric sedan showcased at CES in 2020.
The Japanese tech company has also stated that they intend to enter the global electric mobility market with the pair of EV concepts showcased. Sony will launch a new company called ‘Sony Mobility’, sometime before May, with the intention to explore the EV market and its subsequent entry.
Coming to the new electric SUV concept, the Vision-S 02 is said to be a seven-seater model based on the same platform as its sedan sibling. The SUV is expected to feature a dual-motor setup (one on each axle), each producing around 270 BHP. While performance figures are yet to be revealed, Sony did confirm that the production version of the electric SUV will be able to exceed 180 km/h.
The Sony Vision-S 02 electric SUV is said to measure 4,895 mm in length, 1,930 mm in width and 1,651 mm in height. The cabin will come packed with features, including a ‘panoramic infotainment interface’, speakers in the seats to give a 3D audio experience and individual rear displays which can be connected to Sony’s PlayStation for gaming.
The electric SUV will also feature a host of safety tech and is also expected to come with Level 2+ driver assistance systems.
